Cheim Arenberg
I know that he stopped in NYC to visit an Uncle Isaac Oppenheim, b. 4/1/1836 in Kalvarija before going to Des Moines, IA where he spent between ten and twenty years before going to Pennsylvania and then New York where he married, had four children and spent the rest of his life.
In the USA he began as a peddler traveling a route around Iowa and buying goods in Chicago. He was traveling by horse and buggy and was a boarder before he could afford his own apartment in Des Moines, IA. At first he was primarily selling collars and cuffs. In NY he became a manufacturer of hoop skirts. That's about all I know as he died in 1932."
