Jewish Records for the Russian Period

In 1882 in Persia there was a great famine and requests were made for assistance from Jewish communities around the world.

This article published in the Magid list those Vilkaviskis donors.

I was lucky enough to receive this article from Mr. Jim Marver who is researching his MARVER family from Vilkaviskis.

The translation was done by a dear friend of mine , Rabbi Israel Cohen of Bnei Brak, who is reseaching his family from the small village of BUDVIECIAI which is close to Vilkaviskis.

Thank you Jim and Israel. This is the largest list of Jewish Residents to date for the 19thCentury.
